Preparing for Old Man WinterKimberley DaresWith the first snowfall of the season last Friday catching many off guard it is time to prepare for another Nova Scotia winter.
Winter storms often lead to power outages, which can be more than just inconvenient if you aren’t prepared. Since electric heat is of no use during a power outage be sure to have plenty of blankets on hand to keep warm. Flashlights are also essential, as are the batteries to go in them. Candles can also be helpful but need to be used with caution.
A worthwhile investment may be a hand crank radio as it relies on human effort and not electricity to run it making it easier to stay up on radio coverage of the situation. |
